The mission of Northwest Landowners Association is:

  To create a network of information on issues as they pertain to mineral owners, landowners, operators, or occupants;
  To share and discuss the development of our resources, including wind; and
  To become educated, that we may help maintain a balance in resource development and property rights of individuals in a responsible manner.

We are non partisan. NWLA does not support or oppose individual candidates.

The association was created of necessity, when landowners needed more information to negotiate contracts and corporate pressure, originally wind development. We had no intention to be lobbyists or to ever have to file lawsuits. But when new laws threaten our rights, we must act through lobbying, public outreach and education, and litigation.

We are a non-profit group of farmer/rancher property owners from across the state, led by an uncompensated board, to inform educate, and facilitate exchange of information among industry, our membership, and state agencies.

We do not oppose industry or progress. We understand that all of us benefit from energy development, and recognize the importance it plays in our economy.

We advocate for responsible development and believe the needs of landowners should be in balance with the needs of industry. Together in mutual respect we can make progress.

We work to be a credible and useful resource for industry, government, and landowners, and to facilitate exchange among these groups. Education is a mainstay and founding part of the group.

North Dakotans have a long history of caring about farmers and ranchers.

The people who produce our food are the most important people in our society. Food production is key to our society.

Reminder that our government will only work as long as the majority understands it is their responsibility to protect the rights of all.

We are setting precedent the whole world is watching. Given the significance, it is important to be deliberate and thoughtful.

Land is the largest and longest legacy asset that this state has. We are blessed with diversity of resources, and the core element is productive land.
